Mensa was founded in England in 1946 as a
society for exceptionally bright people. In fact, the only qualification
for membership is a high IQ. The society welcomes people, from
all walks of life, whose IQs are in the top two percent of the
population. The objective of the group is to provide an organization
in which members can participate in a wide range of intellectual,
social, and cultural activities.
Today, there are 100,000 Mensa members in 100 countries throughout
the world, with especially active chapters in the United States,
the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Hong Kong, Italy,
Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. While each Mensa member
offers a sharp intellect, members are truly diverse, with professions
ranging from physicians to farmers, mothers to marketers, scientists
to scholars. Because of their innate brainpower, Mensa members
generally think differently, bringing together skills and abilities
not found in the general population.
Mensa Process draws on a very select subset of these bright,
curious, passionate Mensa members — those who are both
creative and skilled in solving problems. |
